Former Stoke City manager, Johan Boskamp, has passionately advised Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne against succumbing to the lure of a move to Saudi Arabia. In a candid conversation with Het Belang van Limburg, Boskamp extolled De Bruyne’s football prowess, emphasizing how he consistently orchestrated impeccable passes for Haaland.
Expressing his concern, Boskamp remarked, “Guys, that guy [De Bruyne] can play football. How he always prepared those balls perfectly for Haaland. It is almost unfair: he sees everything three days faster than the rest. I just hope he doesn’t go to that damn sandbox.”
Despite acknowledging the tempting financial rewards, Boskamp fears that the midfielder’s departure would be regrettable. He passionately stated, “But when you hear the amount he can earn, I fear it a bit. I would think it would be a shame. The best players in the world should play for the best clubs in the world. And they still play in Europe.”
With De Bruyne reportedly linked to a summer transfer to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season, Boskamp advocates for the continuation of the Belgian international’s career in Europe, asserting that he remains a top player capable of thriving for a few more seasons on the continent.
