A legal icon, Barrister Onyeneke Akachi, has advocated for mutual love, understanding and tolerance among married couples, adding that these, including dependence on God were needed to make a successful marriage. According to him, a union of two marital partners requires conscious efforts on both sides towards demonstrating positive attitudes that serve common interest in order to make the togetherness continuously tasteful.
Barrister Akachi, gave the advice on Saturday, 13th April, at the Forest Event Center, Owerri, during the wedding reception of Mr. Justine Nwachi and his heartthrob, Mrs. Nwakaego Chinaza Anyanwu from Ezinihitte Mbaise and Aboh Mbaise respectively.
The Principal Partner of Onyeneke Akachi & Co Chambers situated at 27 Wetheral Road, Owerri, who also chaired the occasion, further described marriage as beautiful and adventurous, and added that such brings enormous joy and excitement being a significant and necessary attainment towards finding meaning in life.
The senior legal practitioner however, averred that the sweetness of any marriage is dependent on the attitudes of those involved towards each other and circumstances, urging the couples to strive to make their union a successful one by imbibing cordiality, tolerance, mutual love, respect and to anchor it on God. He also advised them to always exercise patience with each other in order to blend well since they are from different backgrounds.
His words: “I advise both of you to try and have a cordial relationship. Marriage is sweet depending on how you handle it. What keeps one in marriage is understanding, tolerance and dependence on God. You must know that the other person is a stranger for you to be able to tolerate because you do not expect your partner to behave like you. So, if you have it at the back of your mind, then you will succeed. Make your own marriage beautiful and unique.
“I pray for you to have a successful marriage; the one that both of you would come out boldly in the next twenty years to tell people that it is a success,” Barrister Akachi, noted, while appreciating those who graced the event.
In his reaction, the groom, Mr. Justin Nwachi, thanked all who contributed and participated in various ways towards the success of the wedding, and prayed for God’s blessings and safety upon them.
He revealed that he was attracted to his wife because of her virtues and understanding, expressing joy over their compatibility. Promising to be a good husband, Mr. Nwachi, prayed for fruitiness and divine guidance in their new journey as married couples.
The event which earlier witnessed the solemnization of their holy matrimony at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, was well celebrated as well as attracted friends, associates and relatives of the couples from within and outside the country.
