The recent appointment of Barr. Enyinna Onuegbu as Commissioner is without equivocation a reflection of Governor Uzodinma’s good understanding of the dictum of “A round peg in a round hole” which is an all – time acknowledgement of choosing a qualified person for a position for optimal results.
Onuegbu’s appointment as Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning goes beyond reciprocation of loyalty and party affiliations. Granted that he is highly loyal to the Uzodinma government beyond doubt, granted also that he is an experienced and deeply committed party faithful, he is considered a round peg in a round hole in the ministry assigned to him.
Barr. Onuegbu can perfectly be described as a Daniel that has come to judgement with multi dimensional experience to handle his portfolio without tinctures and pebbles of inexperience in land administration.
His mastery of Imo geophysical domain, his professional experience bordering on his familiarity with conventional and customary elements of land holding and administrative experience merged to make him a suitable choice devoid of any neophyte assumptions. Imo people say “Carry go”
Senator Hope Uzodinma has exemplified a determined leader with the ambition to enthrone excellence in land administration at a time there are elements viciously deep in manipulative tendencies and ambience to circumvent rules in land administration in the state and with Onuegbu at the helm , it would be impossible for such manipulations to go undetected.
It is a rule for strategic ministries to be assigned to persons with sound experience, zeal and commitment to administrative objectives for true efficiency to be achieved. Experience has shown that the ministry requires a mastery of the processes involved in land administration and its adjoining frontiers for good results.
One interesting thing is that his commitment to the ideals of the Uzodinma Government would propel him to ensure that lands approved for specific projects, especially industrial development are strictly developed to serve the fundamental objects for their allocation and approval since industrialization is considered very crucial for the economic development of Imo State.
Again, it shows that it does not require people with penchant for primitive acquisition of wealth. Considering the aforementioned, Onuegbu has the credentials and panache to do better.
Chief Onuegbu is seen as one of the appointees whose contributions to the Uzodinma administration are in the public domain with ovations and his incontrovertible adherence to the ideals of the Shared Prosperity Government makes him a trustworthy appointee in character and experience to pilot the affairs of the ministry. Here Imo people are on one page.
He is one of the appointees of government with non rented crowds of followers. It is also believed that he enjoys public goodwill needed to forge ahead in public administration.
The avalanche of accolades trailing his appointment points to the deservedness of his appointment and the perceived public confidence in his delivery ability.
That people were happy on hearing his of his appointment is a clear testimony of people’s belief in his ability to transform and reposition the ministry and he is certainly aware of both public and the governor’s expectations.
With him at the helm the hitherto deluge of litigations and protests both explicit and implied that the ministry had faced before now will be reasonably reduced, due largely to his wealth of experience . This reality affirms some of the key considerations the governor took into account and rightly too. Igbos normally say “Onye ma akwa okwa na achi ya.”
Onuegbu, Imo people welcome you !
