A total of 573 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sabuwar Dan Masara, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing growing economic hardship under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Led by Mustapha Adamu, also known as Shugaba, the defectors said they could no longer remain in a party that has strayed from the principles of fairness and justice. They expressed dissatisfaction with the current economic situation and declared their belief that the PDP is better equipped to address the country’s challenges.
The deputy chairman of the PDP in Jigawa State, Umar Danjani, welcomed the new members and described the defection as a major boost for the party’s strength in the state. He reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to good governance, unity, and development.
This wave of defection marks a notable political development in Jigawa and reflects a broader dissatisfaction with the APC in the region.
