The Office of the Secretary to the Local Government (SECLOG), Ikeduru LGA, has hailed the growing influence of young people in local governance as the area joins the world in marking International Youth Day 2025. This year’s celebration shines a spotlight on how youth participation is driving progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the grassroots.
In Ikeduru, youths are taking active roles in shaping policy, contributing to council deliberations, and leading community projects that address pressing needs such as education, job creation, climate action, and justice reforms. Their initiatives—ranging from environmental clean-ups to digital governance advocacy—are helping to align local priorities with global development targets.
“The energy and innovation of our youths are transforming Ikeduru,” the SECLOG office stated, noting that the council is committed to sustaining mentorship programs, resource support, and policy inclusion to keep young voices at the forefront of decision-making.
