The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh, has resigned from his position. He submitted his resignation on Saturday, citing the decision was made in good faith and in the best interest of the state.

In his resignation letter, Dajoh thanked his fellow lawmakers for their support during his time in office and pledged to continue serving as the representative of Gboko West State Constituency.

His resignation comes shortly after the suspension of four lawmakers accused of plotting to remove him from office. The development has sparked speculation about internal power struggles within the Assembly and broader political tensions in the state.

No successor has been announced yet, but discussions are reportedly ongoing to fill the vacant position and maintain stability in the House.

This marks a major shift in the leadership of the Benue State legislature and could have wider political implications in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
