The Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Professor Stella Lemchi, who was part of Imo delegation that went for pilgrimage to the Holy Lands of Jordan and Israel, has prayed for the progress and success of the school.

While in the Holy Land, Professor Lemchi took a moment of solemn reflection and intercession for the University, committing the institution to divine guidance and wisdom, for continued peace in the university community, academic excellence among staff and students and divine provision for infrastructural expansion and global competitiveness.

Speaking, Professor Lemchi emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal and moral strength as the foundation for educational advancement. “Education is not only about the transfer of knowledge, but also about nurturing character, discipline and the fear of God. Our prayer is that Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education will continue to stand as a beacon of moral and academic excellence in Nigeria and beyond.”

Her participation in the pilgrimage also provided her the opportunity to explore possible collaborations in heritage education, cultural tourism and academic exchange between Alvan and institutions in the Holy Land. This aligns with her administration’s vision of repositioning the University as a globally relevant, faith-inspired and innovation-driven institution.

Under her leadership, the University continues to experience steady progress in academics development, staff capacity building and infrastructure renewal. Her commitment to discipline, inclusiveness and excellence has continued to endear her administration to both the academic community and the larger society.

Indeed, with Professor Stella Lemchi at the helm of affairs, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education is truly in safe hands anchored on faith, integrity and visionary leadership.

The pilgrimage, which brought together top government officials, clergy and leaders from various sectors, provided a unique opportunity for reflection, prayer and cultural exchange. The Imo delegation visited several notable biblical and historical sites including the River Jordan, where Jesus was baptized; Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land; the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, among others.
