Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, called on Nigerian youths to be patient and optimistic. He told them their time to bring meaningful change to the country is coming soon. He encouraged young Nigerians to believe in the country’s potential despite the challenges it faces now.
At a youth empowerment forum held at the Uyo Civic Centre on Friday, Senator Akpabio said young people have an important role in shaping Nigeria’s future. He encouraged them to focus on personal growth, innovation, and taking part in the development of the nation.
Have faith in Nigeria, Akpabio said. Your own time will come and the country will change. The future belongs to you, and your energy, creativity, and strength are what Nigeria needs.
He also recognized the problems many youths face, such as unemployment and insecurity, but told them not to lose hope. He advised them to learn useful skills, start businesses, and contribute positively to their communities.
Akpabio mentioned government programs that help young people and encouraged the audience to use these programs to build lasting careers and improve their lives.
Challenges are part of every country’s journey, he said, but with determination and unity, the youth can overcome these problems and lead Nigeria toward progress.
Hundreds of young people from Akwa Ibom State attended the event. Many felt encouraged and hopeful after hearing the senator speak. Youth leader Chinyere Udo said Akpabio’s message reminds them that change is possible and within reach. She said young people must stay focused and work together for a better Nigeria.
The forum ended with a call for young Nigerians to get more involved in governance, innovation, and community service. It emphasized that the country’s future depends on their efforts.
