Health concerns are mounting over Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is reportedly still receiving medical attention at the Kuje Correctional Centre clinic after collapsing in custody last week.

Sources inside the facility revealed that Ejimakor, a prominent constitutional lawyer, remains under close medical supervision and is wearing a neck collar brace believed to be part of his ongoing treatment following the sudden health incident.

Ejimakor was among several persons arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow solidarity protest held in Abuja earlier this month. He was remanded to Kuje Prison alongside other activists after a court hearing in connection with the demonstration.

Prison sources say Ejimakor’s condition prompted immediate attention from the facility’s medical staff after he reportedly became weak and collapsed. One official who requested anonymity told reporters that he is stable now but still being monitored closely, and that doctors advised he remain in the clinic for further observation.

Supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra have expressed deep concern about his health, urging authorities to ensure that Ejimakor receives comprehensive medical care. Human rights advocates have also renewed calls for humane treatment of political detainees and activists held for non-violent protests.

Ejimakor has long been a central figure in the legal campaign for Nnamdi Kanu’s release, handling several constitutional cases against the Nigerian government over alleged human rights violations and breaches of court orders.

As of press time, the Nigerian Correctional Service had not issued an official statement on his medical status. However, sources close to Kanu’s legal team confirmed that Ejimakor is recovering gradually and is expected to remain under observation until doctors deem him fit to return to the general prison population.
