OluImo Backs Creation of Anioma State as Southeast’s Sixth State

Abuja, Nigeria

Renowned activist and community leader, Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis, popularly known as OluImo, has thrown his weight behind the creation of Anioma State, describing it as the most deserving candidate among the proposed new states under consideration by the National Assembly.

While commending the National Assembly for its bold step toward approving the creation of an additional state for the Southeast geopolitical zone, OluImo noted that Anioma State represents a unique opportunity to achieve historical justice, cultural reintegration, and regional balance.

According to him, the establishment of Anioma State would serve as a “symbol of unity and reintegration of Igbo brothers and sisters across the River Niger,” correcting decades of perceived marginalization and fostering greater social cohesion among people of shared heritage

“Anioma is not just another proposed state — it is a bridge of brotherhood,” OluImo stated.
“Our people on both sides of the Niger share the same culture, language, and values. Creating Anioma will finally bring our families back together under one regional identity.”

He further praised the dogged efforts of Senator Ned Nwoko, who has been at the forefront of the campaign for Anioma State, describing him as a visionary leader committed to the unity and advancement of the Igbo nation.

“Senator Ned Nwoko deserves commendation for his relentless pursuit of this noble cause. His dedication to reuniting people with the same culture, language, and identity through the Anioma project is a true service to history and posterity,” OluImo added.

The activist urged other stakeholders, traditional rulers, and political leaders across the Southeast and South-South regions to rally behind the proposal, emphasizing that Anioma’s creation would not only strengthen the Southeast politically but also promote inclusive governance and national unity.

As debates around state creation intensify, OluImo’s endorsement adds to the growing public support for Anioma State — a vision that many believe could redefine the sociopolitical landscape of the Southeast and enhance representation in Nigeria’s federal structure.
