President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as Chairman of the National Steering Committee of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme.
The appointment, announced from the Presidency in Abuja, is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Renewed Hope agenda at the grassroots level. The programme is designed to promote inclusive development, enhance local governance, and deliver social and economic benefits directly to communities across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who also heads the Nigeria Governors Forum, is expected to lead the committee in coordinating development initiatives between federal, state, and local governments. The committee will also oversee the mobilisation of resources and ensure that projects under the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme align with national priorities for poverty reduction and community empowerment.
According to government sources, the initiative aims to bring governance closer to the people, with a focus on improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare services at the ward level.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership experience and commitment to grassroots development would drive the success of the programme and deliver tangible results to Nigerians in rural communities.
The Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme is one of the flagship initiatives under the Tinubu administration’s broader Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to promote sustainable development, job creation, and economic inclusion nationwide.
