The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into a viral video circulating on social media alleging that a privately owned hotel located in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area, is being used as a hideout for kidnapping and organ harvesting operations.

According to a statement from the Imo State Police Command, the directive followed widespread public concern sparked by the disturbing footage, which purportedly shows scenes suggesting illicit activities within the premises. The Command emphasized that it is treating the allegations with utmost seriousness and has deployed a special investigative team to ascertain the authenticity of the claims and identify those responsible.

Commissioner Danjuma assured residents that the Police Command remains committed to maintaining public safety and will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind the viral video. He also warned against the spread of unverified information, stressing that such actions could jeopardize ongoing investigations or cause unnecessary panic among citizens.

We have initiated a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter. The public is advised to remain calm and allow the police to carry out their duties diligently, the statement quoted the Commissioner as saying.

The hotel in question, located in the Irete community of Owerri West, has reportedly drawn the attention of security agencies before, as the area has been identified as a hotspot for kidnapping and related criminal activities in the past. However, the latest allegations of organ harvesting have heightened public anxiety, prompting calls for swift and decisive police action.

Residents of Irete and nearby communities have appealed for increased security presence and surveillance, while human rights groups have urged authorities to ensure that any suspects, if apprehended, are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

As investigations continue, the Imo State Police Command has pledged to provide timely updates to the public and assured that any findings will be made transparent once the probe is concluded.
