Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a caring and responsible response to the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State. The senator stated that the President showed deep concern for the safety of the children by canceling his planned international trip in order to focus fully on the crisis at home.
According to Senator Kalu, President Tinubu had initially planned to travel to Kebbi State in person to visit the affected families. However, security officials strongly advised him not to make the trip due to the sensitive situation in the region. Instead, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, was directed to travel to Kebbi to meet with parents, community leaders, and state officials. His mission was to reassure them that the federal government remains fully committed to rescuing the abducted schoolgirls and restoring calm to the area.
Senator Kalu described the Presidents action as a clear sign of responsible leadership. He noted that stepping away from an important international engagement in order to address a national emergency shows a level of seriousness that Nigerians expect from their leaders. He added that the gesture reflects empathy, concern, and a sense of duty toward citizens who continue to face threats from violent groups.
In his remarks, Senator Kalu urged other political leaders to adopt the same level of urgency in dealing with rising insecurity across the country. He stressed that the situation has reached a stage where unity, cooperation, and timely decision making are essential. He also called on citizens to support security agencies by providing useful information that could help rescue the schoolgirls and prevent similar incidents.
The kidnapping in Kebbi State has added to growing concerns about safety in several parts of Nigeria. Many parents and community members remain anxious as they wait for updates from security forces. The federal government has assured the public that it is working with state authorities, local vigilante groups, and military units to locate the girls and bring them home safely.
As rescue efforts continue, Nigerians are watching closely and hoping that the renewed focus on security will lead not only to the safe recovery of the children but also to long term improvements in the fight against kidnappings and violent attacks across the country.
