Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and collective responsibility as Christians across the country celebrate Christmas.
In separate Christmas messages, the two political leaders emphasized the need for national cohesion amid the country’s social and economic challenges. They urged citizens to look beyond ethnic, religious, and political differences and work together for the progress and stability of Nigeria.
Atiku described Christmas as a season that reflects love, sacrifice, and compassion, values he said are essential for building a just and prosperous nation. He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to peaceful coexistence, stressing that unity remains the country’s greatest strength in difficult times.
Similarly, El-Rufai highlighted the importance of tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians of different faiths and backgrounds. He called on leaders and citizens alike to draw lessons from the Christmas season by promoting dialogue, understanding, and service to humanity.
Both leaders also used the opportunity to pray for peace and improved security across the nation, expressing optimism that with unity and shared purpose, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and move toward a better future.
Their messages join those of other national figures who have used the Christmas celebration to remind Nigerians of the enduring values of love, hope, and national solidarity.
