Prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has described the reported bombing in Sokoto allegedly linked to former United States President Donald Trump as a direct war against Islam and Muslims in Northern Nigeria.
Speaking on the development, Gumi condemned the attack, stating that such actions represent an assault on the religious identity, security, and dignity of Muslims in the region. He warned that continued military aggression against Muslim communities could deepen resentment and instability.
The cleric emphasized that Northern Nigeria should not be treated as a battleground for foreign political or military interests, urging international actors to respect religious sensitivities and human life.
Gumi further called on Muslim leaders, traditional rulers, and the international community to speak out against what he described as unjust and provocative actions, stressing the need for dialogue, restraint, and peaceful coexistence.
He also appealed to the Nigerian government to protect its citizens and ensure that foreign powers do not undermine national sovereignty or inflame religious tensions.
