Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has said that governors from Nigeria’s South-East region have agreed to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Uzodinma, who chairs the South-East Governors’ Forum, disclosed this during a visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti in Umuahia. He said the visit formed part of ongoing consultations among leaders of the region on governance, development, and political cooperation.

According to him, the decision to back President Tinubu was reached after collective deliberations by South-East governors on the need to strengthen engagement with the Federal Government in order to attract more developmental projects and address key challenges facing the region.

He noted that closer collaboration with the current administration would help improve infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and enhance security across the South-East.

Uzodinma added that political decisions should be guided by the overall interest and welfare of the people rather than partisan considerations.

The declaration has generated discussions within and outside the region, with analysts describing it as an early indication of shifting political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
