The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Danjuma Aboki, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

The promotion was ratified during the Commission’s 3rd Plenary Meeting held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Abuja. It forms part of a wider promotion exercise aimed at strengthening leadership and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

Danjuma Aboki’s elevation followed a merit-based process that included written examinations and oral interviews. His promotion reflects his years of service, experience, and contributions to policing and internal security, particularly during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Imo State.

In the same exercise, Commissioner of Police Dansabo Idi was also promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, while Assistant Inspector-General Funsho Adegboye was elevated to Deputy Inspector-General of Police. The Commission also approved the promotion of over 26,000 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II.

With this promotion, Danjuma Aboki joins the senior leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, where he is expected to take on broader responsibilities in strategic command, operational coordination, and national security management.
