The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a key phase of its internal preparations for the 2027 general elections in Enugu State, as 24 aspirants have officially submitted their nomination forms for screening.
The screening exercise is tied to the party’s plans to field candidates for all 24 constituencies in the Enugu State House of Assembly. Party officials confirmed that each aspirant represents a distinct constituency, making the process comprehensive and evenly distributed across the state.
The exercise began at the APC state secretariat in Enugu, where a screening committee was set up to review the documents and eligibility of all contestants. The committee is tasked with ensuring that all aspirants meet the constitutional, legal, and party requirements before proceeding to the next stage.
Speaking on the process, the screening committee leadership explained that the exercise is being conducted under strict guidelines issued by the national leadership of the party. They emphasized that transparency, fairness, and internal democracy remain central to the exercise.
According to the committee, the submission of forms by all 24 aspirants reflects strong participation and growing interest within the party structure in the state. Officials also noted that the process has so far been peaceful and orderly.
Party stakeholders in Enugu have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening the APC’s presence in the state. They expressed optimism that the screening process would help produce credible candidates capable of competing effectively in the general elections.
