The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully prepared to confront what he described as the “political antics” of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking while addressing political developments in the country, Wike expressed confidence in the President’s political experience and strategic leadership, insisting that Tinubu remains focused on governance despite growing political activities by opposition figures.

According to the former Rivers State governor, the opposition has yet to present a united front capable of posing a serious electoral challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He argued that internal divisions and leadership disagreements within the opposition have continued to weaken their chances of mounting a formidable campaign ahead of the next presidential election.

Wike maintained that President Tinubu is not distracted by political rhetoric or criticisms from rival parties, stressing that the administration is committed to delivering on its campaign promises while allowing its performance to speak for itself.

He also challenged opposition leaders to focus on building strong political structures and engaging Nigerians with practical alternatives rather than relying on public statements and political propaganda. According to him, electoral success is determined by grassroots mobilization, effective organization, and the confidence of the electorate.

The minister further expressed optimism that the APC remains well positioned for victory in the 2027 elections, citing the party’s national spread, political experience, and ongoing efforts to strengthen its support base across the country.

As political consultations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls, analysts believe the coming months will witness increased political alignments, coalition talks, and strategic realignments among both the ruling party and opposition parties seeking to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.

While Wike remains confident in the APC’s prospects, opposition parties have continued to insist that they are working towards building stronger alliances capable of providing Nigerians with a competitive alternative in the next general election.

With nearly two years to the 2027 elections, political observers expect the contest to intensify as parties unveil their strategies, strengthen grassroots structures, and seek broader public support in what is shaping up to be another closely watched electoral cycle.
