The Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Imo State Branch, MLS Obinna Chijioke, has commended the Imo State Government under Governor Hope Uzodimma for creating an enabling environment for healthcare businesses and professionals to thrive in the state.
Chijioke made the commendation in Owerri on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, during the presentation of the prestigious ISO 15189:2022 accreditation certificate to Everight Diagnostics.
The event, which attracted participants and stakeholders from across the healthcare sector, was described by Chijioke as a significant milestone for medical laboratory practice in Imo State and the South-East.
He stressed the need for stakeholders to consolidate and strengthen the progress already recorded by medical laboratory scientists in the state, noting that sustained commitment to quality and professionalism would further advance healthcare delivery.
According to him, the accreditation underscores the growing commitment to quality, competence and international best practices in medical laboratory services, while encouraging other laboratories across the state to embrace robust quality management systems.
Chijioke, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Link Medical Diagnostics and Research Laboratories, Owerri, disclosed that only three laboratory centres across the South-East region had attained the ISO 15189 accreditation milestone.
He said, “This accreditation makes Everight Diagnostics the second private medical laboratory after Link Laboratories, Owerri, in Imo State, and the third laboratory overall in the South-East Nigeria to attain the internationally recognised standard for quality and competence in medical laboratories.”
He noted that Everight Diagnostics’ attainment of the ISO 15189:2022 standard represents another important step towards advancing the quality and credibility of medical laboratory services in the region.
The AMLSN Imo State Branch Chairman also advocated stronger and more positive collaboration between the association and the Imo State Government, stressing that sustained partnership would help improve the quality, accessibility and reliability of laboratory services in both public and private healthcare facilities.
He emphasised the need to strengthen the gains already made by medical laboratory scientists in Imo State, urging stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving higher professional and quality standards.
Chijioke further assured the state government of AMLSN’s readiness to continue partnering with relevant government agencies on policies and initiatives aimed at improving medical laboratory practice and overall healthcare delivery.
He congratulated the management and staff of Everight Diagnostics on the accreditation, urging them to sustain the standards, professionalism and commitment to quality that earned the laboratory the internationally recognised certification.
The event attracted notable personalities from the healthcare sector, including the Imo State Commissioner for Health and Social Services, Dr. Chioma Egu, among other dignitaries and stakeholders.
