Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has dismissed the political relevance of the Rainbow Coalition in the state, declaring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the dominant political platform capable of securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the declaration on Tuesday during the distribution of campaign vehicles under the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Imo State, where he urged party supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Uzodinma expressed confidence that the APC would record a strong electoral performance in Imo State in 2027, insisting that the party would secure what he described as “organic votes” from residents who, according to him, appreciate the performance of the Tinubu administration.
In a bold political statement, the governor maintained that the Rainbow Coalition had no meaningful presence in the state, reaffirming his confidence in the APC’s political strength and organisational structure.
“There is no Rainbow Coalition in Imo State,” Uzodinma declared, emphasising his belief that the APC remains the party of choice for the people of the state.
The governor also called on party faithful to support APC candidates at every level of government, stressing the need for a united front ahead of the next general elections.
He urged supporters to vote for APC candidates contesting seats in the State House of Assembly, the governorship, the House of Representatives, the Senate and the presidency.
According to Uzodinma, the party’s electoral strategy should focus on securing victories across all elective positions rather than concentrating on a single office.
“Vote APC House of Assembly, vote APC for the governor, vote APC for House of Reps, vote APC for Senate, crown it with APC for the presidency,” he said.
The governor’s remarks underscore the APC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots political machinery in Imo State ahead of the 2027 elections, with the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement serving as a platform for direct engagement with voters.
The distribution of campaign vehicles is expected to support the movement’s mobilisation activities, particularly at the community level, as party supporters work to promote the APC and its candidates.
Uzodinma charged the beneficiaries of the vehicles to ensure that they were used strictly for the purpose for which they were provided, warning against any diversion from the party’s campaign objectives.
He said the vehicles were intended to empower supporters to take the party’s message to communities across the state and mobilise voters in favour of President Tinubu and the APC.
The governor further argued that the votes expected from Imo State would reflect the independent choices of voters who believe in the president’s performance.
“The votes that will come from Imo State are organic votes. These are votes the owners decided to vote because they have seen the performance of the president,” he stated.
Uzodinma also reaffirmed his commitment to the APC’s political objectives, urging party members to remain focused, coordinated and dedicated to the task of securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
“You are empowered to work for President Ahmed Tinubu and APC,” the governor told the beneficiaries.
His comments come as political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to attract attention across the country, with parties and political groups positioning themselves for the contest.
The governor’s dismissal of the Rainbow Coalition signals his confidence in the APC’s standing in Imo State. However, the eventual outcome of the 2027 elections will depend on voters’ decisions at the polls.
With the APC intensifying its mobilisation efforts, Uzodinma has made it clear that his political camp is targeting victories across all levels of government in Imo State, with President Tinubu’s re-election bid forming a central part of the party’s campaign message.
