President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed his commitment to restoring peace and stability across Northern Nigeria, saying his administration will not allow the region to bleed further due to worsening insecurity. The president made the declaration at the 25th Anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum held in Kaduna.
President Tinubu, who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, described the security challenges in the North as complex and deeply rooted. He assured citizens that his government is determined to confront and defeat violent groups responsible for attacks, kidnappings and displacement across the region.
Tinubu said the federal government has directed security agencies to intensify their operations and adopt more proactive measures against terrorists and bandits. He added that ongoing discussions on the creation of state police are part of wider reforms aimed at strengthening community based security.
The president also linked peace to economic revival. He stated that Northern Nigeria must be rebuilt through new investment opportunities, including the Kolmani Integrated Oil Field, which he said could help reshape the region’s economic future. He reaffirmed his commitment to major infrastructure projects, including the Abuja Kaduna Kano Superhighway, which he said will boost trade, improve transportation and expand economic activity.
Tinubu expressed worry over what he called a decline in communal values across the North. He urged traditional rulers, political leaders and religious institutions to work together to restore unity, discipline and moral leadership. He commended the Arewa Consultative Forum for its long standing role in promoting dialogue and peace in the region.
The president noted that Nigeria cannot prosper while a major region remains troubled by violence. He said restoring stability in the North is essential to the overall progress of the country, adding that the government is committed to ensuring that schools, farms and businesses across the region can operate safely again.
Despite the president’s assurances, observers note that the North continues to face complex security challenges linked to poverty, unemployment, ethnic tension and weak governance. Analysts argue that lasting peace will require a combination of military action, economic development and stronger community engagement.
President Tinubu’s strong remarks mark one of his most direct commitments to addressing insecurity in Northern Nigeria. Citizens are expected to watch closely in the coming months to see how his administration delivers on the promise that the North will no longer bleed.
