Renowned activist and public affairs analyst, Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis (OluImo), has condemned the growing campaigns calling for the disbandment of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, popularly known as Tiger Base, in Imo State. According to him, the recent allegations circulating online—particularly claims of organ harvesting by the police unit—are not only unfounded but also dangerous to the peace and security of Imo citizens.
Speaking during a media interaction, OluImo described the accusations as fallacious and malicious fabrications sponsored by critics who do not reside in Imo State and are allegedly disconnected from the realities on ground. He stressed that such grave allegations raise global concerns and must not be allowed to thrive without scrutiny.
He challenged those behind the claims to provide credible evidence or be made to face the full weight of the law. OluImo urged the Imo State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Danjuma, not to dismiss the allegations lightly. Instead, he advised the command to track down and prosecute individuals behind the falsehoods to restore public confidence.
“The police should not sweep these claims under the carpet. Anyone spreading fabricated stories of organ harvesting must be compelled to come forward with proof. This is not a matter to treat with laxity,” OluImo stated.
The activist further cautioned social media users, influencers, and content creators to verify information before circulating it, emphasizing the damaging consequences of misinformation, particularly on matters of security.
In a show of support, OluImo passed a vote of confidence on the performance of ACP Ola, the commander of Tiger Base. He praised his leadership style and urged him to maintain strict discipline within the squad, ensuring professionalism in operations. He encouraged the commander to “possess an eagle eye” over his officers to sustain the achievements recorded so far.
OluImo concluded that coordinated smear campaigns against Tiger Base are ultimately attacks on the safety and wellbeing of the Imo populace, urging citizens to stand against misinformation and support institutions working tirelessly to keep the state secure.
