The Nigerian Army says its troops have recorded significant successes in ongoing nationwide operations, neutralising 18 terrorists, rescuing 14 kidnapped victims, and apprehending 47 criminal suspects in the past week.
In a statement released on an unspecified date, Army authorities explained that the operations were carried out across multiple theatres, including the North East, North West, and North Central, where troops have continued to intensify offensive actions against insurgents, bandits, and other criminal networks threatening national security.
According to the Army, several coordinated ground and air operations led to the destruction of terrorist hideouts, recovery of arms, and disruption of logistics channels used by criminal groups. The statement noted that the 18 terrorists were neutralised during fierce encounters in which troops acted on credible intelligence about planned attacks and movement of armed elements.
The Army also confirmed that 14 kidnap victims were successfully rescued during clearance operations and patrols. The victims, found in varying states of distress, have since been handed over to relevant authorities for medical evaluation, profiling, and reunification with their families.
Additionally, 47 suspects involved in various offences, including terrorism, banditry, weapons trafficking, and aiding criminal activities, were arrested. Preliminary investigations, the Army said, are ongoing, and those found culpable will be handed over for prosecution.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country, urging citizens to continue providing timely information to security agencies. It noted that cooperation between the public and the military remains essential to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of communities.
