The Indigenous People of Biafra has urged Ndigbo, particularly residents of Abia State, to oppose and halt the emerging political alliance between former Abia State governor and senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the group described the alliance as a dangerous political arrangement capable of undermining peace, progress, and genuine development in the South-East. It warned that such collaboration represents a return to failed leadership patterns that previously held Abia State and the wider Igbo region back.
The group accused both politicians of pursuing self-serving interests rather than the collective welfare of Ndigbo. According to the statement, the alliance is designed to recycle old political structures built on godfatherism, deception, and manipulation, which it claimed contributed to years of stagnation and economic hardship in Abia State.
The group further alleged that Orji Uzor Kalu’s prolonged political influence drained the state of opportunities for meaningful growth, while accusing Benjamin Kalu of aligning with entrenched political interests instead of championing people-oriented governance. It insisted that the partnership does not reflect the aspirations of the Igbo people, especially the younger generation.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the group warned Ndigbo against supporting the duo or any political structure linked to them, describing both men as unsuitable choices. It urged voters to remain vigilant and reject politicians associated with past governance failures, calling instead for a new political direction anchored on accountability, justice, and sustainable development.
The statement highlights the deepening political tensions within the South-East, as debates continue over leadership, political alliances, and the future direction of the region.
