Chetachi Nwoga, a US-based medical doctor has frowned at women’s marginalization in Nigeria’s politics, insisting that it was high time they were made to be at the corridors of power because, according to her, ‘women are agents of positive change’.
Chetachi is contesting for Imo East (Owerri zone) senatorial seat under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC)..
Addressing her teeming supporters on Friday at Ahiazu-Mbaise local government headquarters during her coronation as “Ada Ahiazu Dum”, the medical expert said recalled women’s contributions in nation building, part of reasons she is in the ring to contest.
She said, “if you check any organization that a woman is in charge, the organization hardly suffers collapse because a woman owns it up wherever she finds herself just like in the home.
“Nigeria has produced so many women in the position of authority who are outstanding both in politics and business till date. There should be a level playing ground for this gender to prove their mettle. Truly women are agents of positive change.”
She has promised to utilize her wealth of experience to make good and people-oriented laws that will give the masses opportunity to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
In the same vein, she urged her people and Nigerians to continue to support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s several developmental projects and that of Senator Hope Uzodinma whom she described as a Godsent.
She reminded the people of her several humanitarian works as an individual, promising to do more when voted into office.
She dedicated the title to her late parents who gave her the foundational support to get to this height.
“I have been spurred to do more things for my people for this singular honour. I thank my traditional rulers for your love and I promise not to disappoint everyone of you. I will be the lawmaker that anybody can have access to. Continue to spread the good news till we are voted into office.
Speaking at the coronation ground, the Chairman of Ahiazu-Mbaise council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Eze Sabinus Ndubuisi Nwaneche described the medical doctor as an illustrious daughter of the land who has contributed so much to the growth of the LGA.
He pledged their unalloyed support to her becoming the next senator of Owerri zone.
Several other traditional rulers including HRH Eze S.P Iwu, HRH Eze Boniface Onuoha, HRH Eze Remmy Ihejiene and Local government Chairman, Chief Larry Chikwe, spoke in turns and described her in superlative terms.
