The Obidient Movement has strongly disowned the emergence of unauthorized groups and parallel structures allegedly operating in its name, warning against attempts by individuals or political interests to hijack the movement’s vision and identity.
In a statement released by supporters and coordinators of the movement, members emphasized that the Obidient Movement remains a united, people-driven platform committed to promoting good governance, accountability, and national development. The movement stated that its activities and direction cannot be dictated by self-appointed leaders or unofficial bodies seeking to create confusion among supporters.
According to the statement, the movement was built on the principles of transparency, inclusiveness, and collective participation, stressing that no single individual or faction has the authority to impose structures outside the recognized framework of the movement.
The group urged supporters across the country to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by fake leadership lists, unauthorized announcements, or groups falsely claiming to represent the interests of the Obidient family. Members were encouraged to stay focused on the movement’s core values of justice, equity, competence, and service to the Nigerian people.
Supporters also maintained that the movement’s growing influence comes from its grassroots acceptance among youths, professionals, traders, students, and ordinary Nigerians who desire a new direction for the country. They added that preserving unity within the movement remains essential to sustaining its credibility and long-term vision.
The statement further warned that the Obidient Movement would resist any attempt to exploit its popularity for personal ambition or political manipulation, insisting that the movement belongs to the people and must remain committed to democratic ideals and responsible civic engagement.
The Obidient Movement gained national recognition during the 2023 general elections through the widespread support for Peter Obi and has continued to play an active role in conversations surrounding governance, accountability, and political reform in Nigeria.
