The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state have been released.

According to the police, the reports circulating on social media and some online platforms are false and misleading. The command stressed that efforts to rescue the victims remain ongoing, with security operatives intensifying search and rescue operations.

Police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, urged members of the public to disregard unverified information and rely only on official updates from security agencies. He noted that the spread of false reports could undermine ongoing efforts and create unnecessary anxiety among families and the public.

The command maintained its commitment to securing the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers, while continuing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the incident and improve security in the affected areas.

Authorities also cautioned against the circulation of misleading videos and messages falsely linked to the abduction, noting that investigations and rescue operations are still underway.
