𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 widows, indigent women, students and other less-privileged persons have benefited from the humanitarian gesture of Apostle Kingsley Innocent, popularly 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐨, as he launched the Talknado Welfare Foundation during his 2026 New Yam Celebration at Okwuabala Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
The colourful event, held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Apostle Innocent’s palatial country home in Okwuabala, attracted prominent traditional rulers, clergymen, community leaders, indigenes and guests from across the country.
The celebration, which combined thanksgiving, culture, tradition and philanthropy, was held amid royal splendour, cultural elegance and traditional pageantry, with the venue beautifully decorated to create a befitting atmosphere for the annual celebration.
𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐨, adorned in richly embellished traditional regalia added glamour to the occasion, while cultural displays, traditional dances, music and other entertainment provided a memorable experience for guests.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the Talknado Welfare Foundation, through which 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 widows, indigent women and other vulnerable members of society received food items, clothing and cash.
Students were also beneficiaries of the initiative, receiving school bags and writing materials to support their education.
Speaking at the event, Apostle Innocent, who is the General Overseer of Bible Believing Mission Inc., headquartered in Aba, Abia State, thanked God for the gift of life and the opportunity to celebrate another New Yam Festival.
He expressed gratitude to God for a fruitful harvest following the planting season, describing the celebration as an opportunity to appreciate God’s blessings, promote communal fellowship and preserve the people’s cultural heritage.
Apostle Innocent stressed the importance of preserving cultural traditions, maintaining that such traditions are not contradictory to biblical teachings when they promote good morals, unity, peace and responsible conduct.
He, however, called for the rejection of practices considered evil or harmful to society, urging the people to uphold values that would strengthen peace, dignity and communal harmony.
The prospective traditional ruler of the community also urged the people of Okwuabala to embrace peace and unity, while making morality, productivity and hard work essential virtues for moving the community to greater heights.
While formally launching the Talknado Welfare Foundation, Apostle Innocent emphasised the need to bring succour to the needy, describing charity as a practical demonstration of love and an expression of the biblical injunction to care for the vulnerable.
He said the foundation was established to provide support to widows, indigent women, students and other less-privileged persons, assuring the beneficiaries of his continued commitment to their welfare.
The humanitarian gesture sparked jubilation among the beneficiaries, many of whom came from Orlu and neighbouring local government areas.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with journalists, including Mrs. Ifeoma Nwoha, Mrs. Chinasa Ngoka, Mrs. Ifunanya Mmegwa, Mrs. Ifediora Onwuka, Mrs. Ndudi Mbachu, Mrs. Ogechi Obigwe and Mrs. Onyedikachi Nwogu, expressed gratitude to God for using Apostle Innocent to bring succour to them.
They recounted his numerous humanitarian interventions in the area and prayed for God’s continued blessings, protection and prosperity upon him.
Meanwhile, prominent indigenes of the area, including the President-General of Nze Na Ozo in 𝐈𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐚 Clan, Nze Peter 𝐎kekwe, and Chief Chika Obineme, commended Apostle Innocent for his contributions to the community.
They described him as a worthy son who had made the community proud through his commitment to soul-winning, humanitarian service and cultural preservation. They pledged their loyalty and support to his leadership while praying for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon him.
The event was graced by the Chairman, Imo Elders Council and Co-Chairman, Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya; the Orlu Zonal Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Damian Obianigwe; and his Owerri and Okigwe zonal counterparts, Eze Fred Nwachukwu and Eze Osondu Igbuegbe, respectively, alongside other traditional rulers.
Also speaking, Archbishop Benny Danson of Rapha Faith International Ministerial Network and Bishop Dr. Prince Ogor of Royal Life Assembly, Port Harcourt, described the celebration as a demonstration of God’s kingdom engaging with people within their local cultural setting.
They commended Apostle Innocent for his humanitarian initiatives and urged traditional rulers, religious leaders and other well-meaning individuals to emulate his commitment to uplifting humanity.
The event recorded a large turnout and featured captivating performances by the prestigious Omenimo Cultural Troupe, Onye Army Musical Entertainment and Talknado Women, among other traditional performers.
The colourful cultural displays, traditional dances and musical performances added further excitement to the celebration, which brought together faith, culture, royalty, thanksgiving and philanthropy.
The New Yam Celebration ultimately provided a memorable platform for Apostle Innocent to celebrate the harvest, promote Okwuabala’s cultural heritage and launch an initiative dedicated to extending practical support to the less privileged.
