Crisis upon crisis is now the lots of Politicians as serious horse trading ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually kick starts.
While the ruling Party( Apc ) is allegedly hitting hard on oppositions , a leading opposition party in Imo state , the Labour Party is on the canvas with their state chairman , Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa over gross financial indiscipline, anti party activities as well as accusations of high handedness.
Isiala -Mbano local government Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon Lodis Obinna Mbamara who also is the Cor-ordinating Chairman for the six Okigwe zone Labour Party Chairmen who interfaced with Journalists over the Weekend in Owerri disclosed that Barrister Callistus Ihejiagwa has ceased reigning as Imo state Labour Party chairman .
Hon Mbamara alleged that the estrrwhile Imo state Labour Party helmsman has abused Labour Party norms, guidelines and constitution by engaging in anti party activities. He has chosen to engage in acts inimical to the advancement and progress of Labour Party , all aimed at frustrating chances of the party gaining political power into Imo state Douglas House come 2027.
Barrister Ihejiagwa is said to have ignored party constitution over accusation of more than six million Naira , ( #6m) deductions meant to be remitted to national purse of the Party as well as the percentage due to Imo state Labour Party from party revalidation of memberships.
According to the Okigwe Zonal chairman , the state helmsman who was asked to explain these grey issues rather than summon SWC meeting of Labour Party , Opted making Private Calls as well as converning a state Executive Committee ( SEC) meeting where he furtily sought to suspend members . This is wrong , Mbamara intoned.
The Labour Party chieftain said Barrister Ihejiagwa who accepted going on pilgrimage along side with Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi and Hon. Toska Okere representing Owerri federal Constituency at the National Assembly , both members who had already decamped to Apc refused doing the right thing.
Hon. Mbamara alleged that these moves were aimed at frustrating our efforts to 2027 success. We will not allow people whose motive is to destroy our party wreck it’s foundations.
Earlier on, the woman leader Ugoeze while addressing members of the party disclosed grievances of Imo members of the Labour Party. She said Barr. Ihejiagwa chose Purported dished out suspension to members who advised on the right thing and women folks that refused immoral advancements from him.
Our rolving Correspondent who sought the reactions of Barrister Ihejiagwa said the embattled labour party chairman laughed over and responded that his purported removal holds no water as the gathering had no locus. How many national officers , ward chairmen and state working committee members were there? Political gatherings of such magnitude does not hold at Beer parlours , he insisted.
The IDEATO born political machine maintained that Imo people are happy that the black sheeps in the party are gradually weeding themselves. He wondered how his leadership that has being on constant criticisms of the anti people governance of APC under distn Senator Hope Uzodinma in the state would be bought over through Pilgrimage sponsorship. The Apc leadership that has being on political tourism since 5 years plus can not buy me or the party I superintend in the state . That I was on a trip to the Holy Land six months ago can never make me abandon Imo people.
Sir Ihejiagwa appealed to dissidents to allow conscience direct their steps so as to allow the Labour Party move on to reclaim the government.
