By Iyke-Jacobs Nwosu.A reasonable number of local government properties belonging to Ezinihitte Mbaise council area has been handed over to the government under the watch of Hon. Sir Ambrose C. Nwachukwu at the council Premises, Itu Headquarters Mbaise.
The properties which was brought through One Ikechukwu Iyama who was accompanied by the Divisional Police officer in charge of Ezinihitte Mbaise local government Area , Imo state.
Mr Iyama, while discharging the stolen items in the council Premises disclosed that he with one Alex Eberendu shortly after the 2020 end SARS protests in 2021 urged Communities to ensure the return of stolen items from the Council Premises during the Nationwide Protests .
Amongst the stolen items recovered without names of looters were one leather upholstery seater, two armless office chairs, two executive table chairs, One small Brown ELEPHAT Electric generator , two Battery inverters for Computer CPUs , six Computer CPUs, Nine plastic chairs, One mowing machine,(grass cutting machine) One unit Air Conditioner Set , etc .
These items recovered since the council invasion in 2020 had been with Alexander Eberendu who runs a parallel town union government against Itu autonomous community leadership. Apparently his subversion has made it impossible for Imo state government to take possession of the council properties.
According to the executive Chairman of the local government council , Hon sir Ambrose C Nwachukwu, a notification from Alex Eberendu , said letters were sent to Previous local government headship under Chief Sir F . S Onyeberechi Without response.
Our Correspondent who covered the event reports that the Local government directed Mr Alex Eberendu and cohorts then to bring back those Loots with profile of the Complicits since Eberendu claimed were known but Eberendu renegaged .
Hon. Nwachukwu who expressed shocks that people did such collateral damage to governments properties, . He reiterated governor Uzodinma’s ” 3 R ” mantra of Recovery, Reconstructions, and Rebuilding in governance . The Local government Council helmsman frowned at conducts of Alex Eberendu and Iyama with uncompromising and sabotage stands towards Imo state govt instructions for good governance. He insists that Alexander and Iyama must bring the profile of the Looters since they stated is in their custody.
The council chairman stated that security reports are that Alexander Eberendu with others are still parading themselves as Eze – elect for Itu autonomous community in a place Imo state government has issued staff of office and recognition to a traditional Ruler . This is worrisome because Imo state government under distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, CON is not two . Communities are encouraged to be peaceful for distribution of democracy dividends.
The chairman described such conducts as inimical and embarrassment as he urged security agencies, (DSS, NSDC & NPF,) to officially note this exigency .
Sir Ambrose used the opportunity to renew his resolve to Continue recovering more government properties either looted during the nationwide Protests in 2020 or currently .
He stated that his administration has recovered parts of the council Premises encroached by Land grabbers .
At Nkwo Mbaise and Orie Mbaise Markets, Hon. Chief Nwachukwu said his administration has Surveyed the markets .
Imo state government under distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma remains committed towards programmes and policies that will enhance people’s economic welfares , the council boss emphasized.
