The peaceful community of Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State is preparing to bid farewell to one of its most respected matriarchs, Late Mrs. Justina Onyebueke Okebata, who passed away recently at the age of 66.
Fondly known as Lolo Omeoji, the late Mrs. Okebata (née Utomi) is the beloved wife of the late Chief Sunday Okebata of Umuduruiheako, Umudurueke, Umuokwu, Izombe. She is widely remembered for her humility, unwavering Christian faith, and lifelong dedication to her family and community.
The funeral ceremonies are scheduled to begin on Friday, July 25, 2025, with a requiem mass at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Izombe. Following the church service, her body will be laid to rest at her late husband’s compound in Umuokwu, Izombe.
A funeral reception will follow immediately at Aborshi Primary School playground, where family, friends, and members of the community are expected to gather in remembrance. The event will be marked by tributes, hymns, and expressions of gratitude for a life well lived.
Her son, Inspector Chika Okebata of the Imo State Police Command, has expressed the family’s deep appreciation for the support received during this period of mourning. He describes his mother as a woman of peace, prayer, and principle, who lived a life of purpose, compassion, and godly service.
Late Mrs. Justina Onyebueke Okebata is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who continue to uphold her legacy.
Her life remains a shining example of love, strength, and service—values that will be remembered and celebrated for years to come.
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
