Israeli Airstrike in Gaza Kills Five Al Jazeera Journalists

by admin

An Israeli airstrike near Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital on August 10, 2025, killed five Al Jazeera journalists and media workers. Among the dead were correspondent Anas al-Sharif, cameraman Mohammed Qreiqeh, photographer Ibrahim Zaher, field producer Mohammed Noufal, and media worker Moamen Aliwa.

The group had been covering the humanitarian situation when the strike hit their location. Israel’s military claimed al-Sharif was part of a Hamas cell involved in rocket attacks, though no independent evidence has confirmed this.

Press freedom organizations, including the Committee to Protect Journalists, condemned the attack as a targeted killing and a possible war crime. The United Nations, Amnesty International, and several governments called for an independent investigation.

Nearly 270 journalists have died in Gaza since the conflict escalated in 2023, raising concerns that such strikes are silencing critical reporting from the region.
