Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that the current economic challenges confronting the nation will not last forever, expressing confidence that the hardship being experienced by citizens will soon come to an end.
Speaking during a recent public event, the Vice President acknowledged the rising cost of living, inflation, and other economic pressures facing many Nigerians but emphasized that the Federal Government is actively working on long term solutions that will restore stability, drive growth, and improve the well being of all citizens.
According to Shettima, the ongoing reforms introduced by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are already laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient economy. He urged Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful, stressing that sacrifices being made today will bring lasting benefits in the near future.
We are fully aware of the hardship our people are facing, Shettima said. But I want to assure Nigerians that this hardship will not last. Relief is coming. The reforms we are implementing are necessary steps toward building a better future for our country.
He added that government interventions in key sectors such as agriculture, transportation, and energy are beginning to produce positive results. He cited various federal initiatives targeting small businesses, youth employment, food security, and access to credit as part of the broader strategy to lift millions out of poverty.
Vice President Shettima also reiterated the administrations commitment to supporting the most vulnerable segments of society through social investment programs and targeted palliatives.
His comments come at a time when many Nigerians are expressing frustration over the effects of fuel subsidy removal, currency devaluation, and rising inflation, which have led to higher food prices, transport costs, and increased financial pressure on households.
Despite the public concerns, Shettima urged unity, resilience, and optimism, stating that the government remains committed to delivering on its promises of economic transformation and national renewal.
Nigeria has overcome many challenges in the past, and we will overcome this one too. The hardship will soon be over, he said.
The Vice Presidents message is being seen as part of the governments broader effort to reassure citizens and build public trust amid a difficult but pivotal economic transition.
