Members of the Market Traders Association of Nigeria (MATAN), Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Chapter, have paid a courtesy visit to the Constituency Office of the Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Akarachi Amadi, expressing appreciation for what they described as his outstanding achievements and people-oriented leadership.
Hon. Akarachi Amadi, the Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency and Patron of the Market Traders Association of Nigeria (MATAN), Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Chapter, was represented during the visit by the Director-General of his Constituency Office, Hon. Sir Chinedu Ugochukwu, who warmly received the delegation on his behalf.
The visit, which brought together executive members and stakeholders of the association from both Mbaitoli and Ikeduru Local Government Areas, was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the traders’ body and the federal lawmaker. As Patron of the association, Hon. Amadi has maintained a cordial relationship with members of MATAN and has continued to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of traders and residents within the constituency.
Leading the delegation were the State General Secretary of MATAN Imo State Chapter, Chief Chris Uzowuru; the Acting Chairman of MATAN Imo State Chapter, Chief Jonathan Odikanwa; the Chairman of MATAN Mbaitoli Chapter, Engr. Anthony Mbaeri; and the Chairman of MATAN Ikeduru Chapter, Barr. Elujiuba Vitalis.
Speaking during the meeting, members of the association praised Hon. Amadi for his numerous developmental projects, empowerment programmes, and interventions that have positively impacted the lives of constituents across Mbaitoli and Ikeduru Federal Constituency.
The traders noted that the federal lawmaker has continued to distinguish himself through effective representation, accessibility, and commitment to addressing the needs of the people. According to them, his performance has earned him widespread acceptance among various groups within the constituency.
The association used the opportunity to appeal to Hon. Amadi to consider members of MATAN in future empowerment programmes and economic support initiatives. They explained that market traders remain critical contributors to the local economy and should be carried along in programmes designed to improve the welfare of constituents.
The traders further assured the lawmaker of their strong support and loyalty, pledging to stand firmly behind him in his future political endeavors. They stated that their support was based on visible results and tangible achievements recorded during his tenure in office.
Several members who addressed the gathering spoke passionately about the impact of the lawmaker’s activities in their communities. They maintained that many of the projects and interventions being witnessed today have restored confidence in democratic representation.
According to some of the speakers, previous occupants of the position had failed to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people, making Hon. Amadi’s achievements more remarkable and worthy of commendation.
The delegation also noted that traders across the constituency have benefited from the peaceful and inclusive atmosphere created through the lawmaker’s engagement with various groups and stakeholders. They described him as a representative who remains connected to the grassroots and attentive to the concerns of ordinary citizens.
In his address, Hon. Sir Chinedu Ugochukwu thanked the association for the visit and for recognizing the efforts of the federal lawmaker. He described the visit as a demonstration of the strong relationship that exists between Hon. Amadi and the grassroots.
The Director-General highlighted several achievements of the lawmaker, stressing that the development of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru remains a top priority for Hon. Amadi. He assured the traders that the lawmaker would continue to pursue programmes and projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.
According to him, Hon. Amadi has remained committed to delivering quality representation through various developmental initiatives, constituency projects, youth-focused programmes, educational support schemes, and interventions targeted at improving the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
Hon. Ugochukwu also assured the association of continued cooperation and partnership with the constituency office. He encouraged members to remain united and committed to the development of their communities.
He further urged the traders to return to their various markets and share information about the achievements and programmes of Hon. Amadi with fellow traders and residents, noting the importance of keeping constituents informed about government activities and representation.
Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Chairman of MATAN Imo State Chapter, Chief Jonathan Odikanwa, stated that the purpose of the visit was not only to appreciate the lawmaker’s efforts but also to demonstrate the association’s readiness to work closely with him for the overall progress of the constituency.
Chief Odikanwa noted that the association had carefully observed the activities and achievements of Hon. Amadi and was convinced that he deserved the support and cooperation of the people.
He disclosed that members of MATAN across the state had taken notice of the lawmaker’s developmental strides and were pleased with the positive impact of his representation.
The Acting State Chairman further stated that the association had resolved to reciprocate the goodwill shown to traders and other constituents by supporting programmes that promote development and economic growth within the constituency.
Also speaking, the State General Secretary of MATAN Imo State Chapter, Chief Chris Uzowuru, stressed the association’s commitment to supporting leaders who prioritize the welfare of the people.
He stated that MATAN would continue to identify with individuals whose actions and programmes contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of society.
Chief Uzowuru further stated that the association’s support for Hon. Amadi was based on merit and performance, adding that the traders were prepared to mobilize support for him whenever necessary.
“We will continue to support leaders who are delivering on their promises to the people. We have seen the achievements of Hon. Akarachi Amadi and we believe he deserves our encouragement and support,” he stated.
Other members who spoke during the event included Rev. Daniel Anumodu of the Mbaitoli Chapter and Comrade Gift Akujuo of the Ikeduru Chapter. They both expressed satisfaction with the lawmaker’s achievements and assured him of the readiness of traders within their respective areas to support his future political aspirations.
The speakers maintained that the achievements recorded by Hon. Amadi have strengthened public confidence in democratic governance and contributed to the overall development of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru Federal Constituency.
The atmosphere throughout the visit was cordial and filled with expressions of appreciation, solidarity, and optimism for continued collaboration between the association and the federal lawmaker.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chief Chris Uzowuru, who expressed gratitude to the Director-General and staff of the constituency office for the warm reception accorded to the delegation.
A closing prayer was subsequently offered by the Acting State Chairman, Chief Jonathan Odikanwa, who prayed for continued peace, unity, progress, and development in Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency and Imo State as a whole.
The visit ended with members of the association again expressing their confidence in the leadership of Hon. Akarachi Amadi and pledging continued support for initiatives aimed at advancing the welfare and prosperity of the people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru.
