Your Excellency sir, I have it in good authority that you have concluded plans and perfected agreement with MARTIOTT HOTELS USA to bring down Concorde Hotel the only remaining monument we have in Imo state, to establish a new 5 star hotel where you will possess the majority shares with a tiny floating share capital for Imo people while leaving sizeable percentage for Mariott.
That monument belongs to Imo people not you. Therefore, it will amount to a sacrilege for you to pull that monument down without involving Imo people. We demand that you come out clean and show us the terms of your agreement with Mariott. Why do you want to build a new hotel with a new identity? Why do you want to delete the name “Concorde” from the new hotel if it belongs to Imo state? Why can’t Julius Berger be invited to rebuild Concorde into a modern hotel? CONCORD HOTEL must not be demolished.
