The Imo State Police have arrested a 64-year-old lawyer, Donald Mbamah, for allegedly shooting and killing a 16-year-old schoolboy, Paul Victor.
Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said that Mbamah has been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more questioning.
The incident happened on March 17, 2025, at Mbamah’s home in Area N, World Bank, New Owerri. Paul Victor, a student of Urban Development Secondary School, was reportedly shot in the buttocks.
A neighbor who heard the gunshot called the police. Officers from the New Owerri Division arrived quickly, arrested Mbamah, and took the injured boy to General Hospital, Umuguma. Sadly, Paul Victor died from his injuries on March 20, 2025.
The police are still investigating and trying to find the gun that was used. They have assured the public that justice will be done and asked people to stay calm and let the law take its course.
Mbamah will appear in court after the investigation is finished.
