UNILORIN Expels 19 Students, Including Finalists, for Theft and Exam Irregularities

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has expelled 19 students for various violations, including theft and examination irregularities. The decision, announced by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, involves six final-year students among the rusticated individuals.

Approved by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, SAN, the expulsion follows recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. Offenses range from misconduct to theft, examination malpractice, and other misconduct such as hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, and assault.

Penalties include rustication for either one semester or one academic session, as well as expulsion. The affected students, spanning different academic levels, come from faculties and departments such as Agriculture, Arts, CIS, Education, Engineering and Technology, and Life Science.
