In response to the escalating security threats in various communities of Imo State, the local security outfit, “Say No To Crime,” has taken a firm stand against criminal elements. In a joint meeting held at their Command in Nmahu Ohaji/Egbema local Government Area, the group issued a resolute press statement reaffirming their commitment to combatting insecurity across the state.
Led by their central commander, Mr. Okoro Bossa, Say No To Crime voiced their displeasure over the prevailing security challenges and vowed to replicate the proactive measures they’ve successfully demonstrated in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta local Government Areas.
In an exclusive interview, different unit commanders, including Mr. Chinedu Jerry Asonna, highlighted the tangible impact of Say No To Crime Security in restoring peace to communities like Eziorsu and neighboring areas. Mr. Asonna attributed the relative tranquility in these regions to the relentless efforts of Say No To Crime Security in combating criminal activities, particularly militancy and oil theft.
Further underscoring the significance of their presence, the Izombe unit commander, Pericoma, emphasized Say No To Crime Security as the solution to longstanding security challenges. He recounted how Izombe was once considered a “no-go” area dominated by unknown gunmen until the establishment of Say No To Crime. Since then, the community has experienced a notable turnaround, allowing residents to once again feel safe in their own homes.
However, Say No To Crime Security acknowledges the need for additional resources to effectively tackle insecurity. In a joint resolution, they appealed to Governor Hope Uzodinma for support, requesting operational vehicles and more firearms to enhance their capacity in sanitizing the warring communities of the oil regions. Moreover, they expressed their readiness to collaborate with conventional security agencies, advocating for their integration into statewide community policing efforts.
The emergence of Say No To Crime Security represents a grassroots response to the security challenges facing Imo State. With their proactive approach and demonstrated impact, they serve as a beacon of hope for communities striving for peace and security amidst adversity. As they continue their mission, their plea for support underscores the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding the well-being of all residents.
