Dr Mbionwu Promise Onyeka of the department of Medicine and Surgery , Imo State Teaching Hospital, has emerged as the best graduating student with distinction.
Mbionwu, while fielding questions from the newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday , said that hard work , focus and determination influenced his academic feat.
His words , ” I tried my best to study well and keep late at night . Is an encouragement to everybody out there to be focus , hardwork , determination and relaying in God for everything influenced my academic feat . And this academic excellence is a stepping stone to what I want to achieve in life” .
The Imo born genius, who hail from Akaokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area, informed that he is not satisfied with his first degree , he noted his ambition of doing his post graduate study and master degrees. He noted that this, will give him more opportunity to give back to the society.
He advised students to be focus and study hard , emphasized that education pays . He appreciated
Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma who according to him , stopped strike actions that would have affected his academic years .
He advised government to harness host of talents that are coming from educational systems . He maintained that his academic success will serve as an encouragement to those who are in school and those who are aspiring to achieve the feat .
The guardians of Dr Mbionwu Promise , Prof Boniface Iwuchukwu and Prof Mrs Rebecca Chidindu Iwuchukwu , in their separate speech , prayed God for his ( Mbionwu) continuous success . They urged students to remain focus , avoid cultism , be prayerful and study hard . This, according to the erudite scholars will make them to excel in life.
Prof Boniface Iwuchukwu , former Imo Commissioner For Public Utility , encouraged government to provide material and human resources for students , so as they will graduate as reliable graduands.
The 11 academic awards received by Dr. Mbionwu include , best student in Community medicine , best student in radiology , best student in pathology , among others.
