Chief Okporoha Dan Uji, of Ngbele Autonomous Community in Oguta LGA of Imo State, the neighboring community to Izombe of same LGA, has described Izombe Okorosha Carnival as a rich cultural heritage and a time of reunion.
He made this assertion during the celebration of festival at Ogbafor Izombe Central Market recently.
Speaking, Chief Uji, said that Izombe Okorosha is a unique culture that anyone who is conversant with it would not wish to miss.
He expressed his overwhelmed excitement for gracing the occasion, describing it as historical event, saying that it brings joy to the people and himself particularly.
Hear him,”Okorosha is a cultural heritage from our forefathers,we celebrate it once every year .
” The festival brings us together, it’s a time of renewal, where we meet each other,eat and drink with people,relations and friends that we have not seen over years, that is the utmost benefit of the celebration”
Uji who holds the Okporoha title of Ngbele, said traditionally, the festival attracts birth of new children because it is a season of happiness, where good things are achieved.
He also advised that Ndi Igbo should promote and be proud of their culture, even as he
opined that Imo State is blessed with many cultural heritage.
The highlight on the event was that anyone woman that comes out at night during the Okorosha Festival will always will be assisted by a man opposite sex.
