Thursday, February 13, was a great and joyful day at the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA headquarters as participants witnessed the inauguration of Hon. Ikenna Ohaeri as the Special Adviser to the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA. The Special Adviser was inaugurated alongside the Secretary to the LGA, Hon. Mrs. Jane Charles Okoroji and Supervisory Councillors.
The exercise which conformed to the prevailing practice in the LGAs, marked a turning point in the administration of the LGA as Hon. Ohaeri is expected to bring his competence and wealth of experience to bear in ensuring the progress and stability of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA.
Personalities that witnessed the occasion included, the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Mrs Maureen Osuagwu, the Leader of Ahiazu Mbaise Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Calistus Anyanwu, former Commissioner for Information, Hon. Chidi Ibe, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Labour Matters, Hon. Austin Chilakpu, President Generals among the management and staff of the LGA.
During the exercise, Hon. Ikenna Ohaeri, alongside other appointees, took the Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance administered by the Legal Adviser to the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Barrister Akponye Ihediohama. They promised during the oaths to uphold and comply to the rules of engagement in the local government administration.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Hon. Larry Chikwe, congratulated the newly inaugurated appointees, adding that for them to have been chosen for such responsibilities entailed that they would contribute meaningfully in moving the LGA forward. He stressed that their appointments was all about service to the people and not for personal enrichment and self-aggrandizement.
Chikwe, maintained that his government was anchored on the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma, encouraging the appointees to conform to such or risk losing their jobs as he would not tolerate official misconduct from any of them. The chairman, nevertheless promised to ensure they succeeded in their assignments by providing them with the necessary support.
Reacting during an interaction with newsmen, Hon. Ikenna Ohaeri, thanked God for His faithfulness upon him, and appreciated Hon. Chikwe for finding him worthy of the appointment. He also expressed gratitude to all who graced the occasion, wishing them well.
The visibly elated Special Adviser, noted that he was aware that the appointment was a call to serve the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA in such capacity, promising not to take it for granted, but to work hard in assisting the chairman to make the LGA better. He hailed Hon. Chikwe for his achievements in the LGA, saying that his election was the best thing to happen to the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA at the moment.
Furthermore, the new Special Adviser, thanked Governor Hope Uzodimma for reviving elected local government system in the state, stating that such would help in achieving rapid and sustainable development at the grassroots. He used the opportunity to solicit support for Hon. Larry Chikwe from the people of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, adding that collaborative efforts were needed to achieve the desired progress of the area.
