The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking in Kano State, announcing the arrest of 230 suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs during a series of recent operations.

According to NDLEA officials, the coordinated raids were carried out in several parts of the state, including densely populated neighbourhoods, known drug distribution centres, and transport corridors often used by traffickers. The agency explained that the operation was part of a renewed effort to dismantle drug networks that have been fueling addiction and criminal activity in the region.

The seized items included cannabis, tramadol tablets, codeine based syrups, and other restricted substances believed to be destined for both local consumption and wider distribution. NDLEA officers noted that the arrests involved individuals suspected of dealing, transporting, and storing illicit drugs, as well as smaller scale users who may face rehabilitation based on investigations.

Officials stated that many of the suspects are currently undergoing screening, while evidence is being compiled for prosecution. The agency emphasised that it is working closely with community leaders, security agencies, and local authorities to ensure that traffickers no longer find safe spaces to operate within Kano.

The NDLEA added that the operation forms part of a long term strategy to reduce drug related crimes, protect young people from addiction, and restore safety in communities affected by drug abuse. The agency urged residents to continue providing credible information to support future raids and help curb the activities of drug syndicates in the state.
