Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has approved a fresh round of high-level appointments, naming new commissioners-designate, board chairmen, managing directors and executive secretaries across key government agencies and institutions.
The appointments, announced as part of the administration’s ongoing reforms, are aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery and accelerating development in line with the governor’s vision for a modern, efficient and business-friendly Enugu State.
Governor Mbah nominated Barrister Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr. C. O. C. Egumgbe as commissioners-designate. Their nominations have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, in line with constitutional provisions.
The governor also approved several strategic appointments into leadership positions within state agencies and boards. Those appointed include Kenechukwu Nnamani as Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority and James Chukwuemeka Mbah as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board.
Others are Dr. Eric Oluedo as Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board, Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board, and Monday Diamond Ani as State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency.
Governor Mbah also reconstituted the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board to strengthen basic education delivery in the state. Newly appointed members include Hon. Afam Nnaji, Dr. Mrs. Uche Eze, Dr. Mrs. Oge Uka, Mrs. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje, Mrs. Justina Ugwu, Dr. Nnenna Ogbonna, Theophilus Nweke representing the Nigeria Union of Teachers, and Mrs. Juliet Ifesinachi Ani representing women groups, with Dr. Luke Ohabuenyi Ezema named as secretary.
In another wave of appointments, the governor named Chief Nwabueze Nnamani as Chairman of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation, Barrister Richard Agu as Chairman of Enugu Air, and Rt. Hon. USA Igwesi as Chairman of the New Enugu Smart City Development Authority.
Also appointed are Richard Onaga as Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency, Hon. Bob Itanyi as Managing Director of the Enugu State Transport Company, and Hon. Chika Igwesi as Chairman of the Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency.
While the commissioners-designate await legislative confirmation, all other appointments take immediate effect.
Governor Mbah urged the appointees to bring professionalism, innovation and accountability to their respective offices, stressing that his administration remains committed to delivering measurable results and transforming Enugu State into a hub of economic growth and good governance.
