Police operatives in Rivers State have reportedly killed two suspected kidnappers during a security operation that led to the successful rescue of a victim.
According to police sources, the incident occurred during a tactical operation aimed at tracking a kidnap syndicate believed to be operating within parts of the state. The suspects were said to have engaged officers in a gun battle after resisting arrest, resulting in their deaths.
The victim, who was abducted earlier by the suspects, was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with family members. Security personnel also reportedly recovered weapons and other items linked to criminal activities at the scene of the operation.
The Rivers State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes, assuring residents that sustained intelligence-led operations will continue to ensure public safety. Members of the public were also encouraged to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to aid crime-fighting efforts.
