The executive chairman of ONUIMO local government area, Hon Dr Emeka Obi has re iterated his commitment in providing dividend of democracy to his good people of onuimo . Hon Obi disclosed that he will not relent in his quest in providing quality and human oriented leadership such as never been seen or witnessed before in the creation of the local government. The resilient and hardworking chairman made this disclosure recently in his office when he was honoured with an excellency award by a notable and reputable media group otherwise known as ‘media for truth and development’
Speaking further, Hon Obi hinted that onuimo local government is faced with challenges of bad road but assured that he has done a lot in making sure that the roads are fixed..The chairman revealed that he had tackled the issue of roads in onuimo since he was sworn in as the executive chairman of the local government. He talked about the massive grading and rehabilitation of some roads in virtually all the communities in onuimo. Stating that onuimo has witnessed tremendous good road network since he resumed work as chairman of the council. He mentioned the road that links afor umuna to umuduruegbeagulu which is now at advanced stage and has been filled with laterite. He also talked about the stone filling of the road that connects ezelu to the council head quarters .The chairman commended the youths of the place for coming out enmasse to participate in the stone filling
The council boss disclosed that they have started mobilizing councillors for the ward project which will eventually take place this Christmass season. He used the opportunity to enumerate other of his achievements which include the roofing of the local government council hall , the perimeter fencing of the entire local government council and is nearly completion. He stated that he has procured about 500 pieces of solar light with about 2000 capacity mega watt. He also hinted of the renovation and facelifting of the local government magistrate court and the training of the local government officers in collaboration with national orientation agency which will take place for five days.
In the area of security. Hon Obi told jounalist that onuimo is now one of the most peaceful local government in the state stating that kinetic and non kinetic approach to security is the reason onuimo is witnessing unprecedented peace in recent time. He mentioned that he has formidable vigilante group that comprises of able bodied men and women numbering up to two hundred and that they cover all the communities in the area .
The chairman expressed deep appreciation to the governor His excellency senator Hope Uzodinma for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of onuimo. He described Gov Uzodinma as a God sent governor and a man who has the interest of imo people at heart. He hinted that governor Uzodinmas laudable projects speaks for its self especially in the area of road construction and human empowerment . However members of media for truth and development who spoke through their coordinator pastor Dr Austin Okoro during the award presentation hinted that the reason for honouring him with such award is because of the excellent work he is doing for onuimo people and for the state in general . He described Hon Obi as a very friendly man with good heart and one of the best local government chairman in the state . In his response Hon Obi disclosed that his state of mind is tensed with joy and euphoria as it is always the case when some one is recognized and honoured such as the one bestowed on him by the media group. Stating that the award will spur him to do more for his people of onuimo and the entire human society at large.
