Natasha Blasts Akpabio Over Demand for Reinstatement of Police Escort, Asks: “Did You Not Withdraw My Security?”

by admin

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reportedly taken a swipe at Senate President Godswill Akpabio following demands for the reinstatement of her police security escort, questioning whether the Senate leadership was not responsible for its earlier withdrawal.

According to sources familiar with the development, the senator expressed anger over queries regarding the absence of her police escort, insisting that the security detail had been withdrawn without her request or prior notice.

She was quoted as asking pointedly if Akpabio himself did not approve or facilitate the withdrawal of her security in the first place.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reportedly described the demand for reinstatement as unnecessary and unfair, arguing that she should not be held accountable for a decision she did not initiate.

She further raised concerns about her safety, noting that the withdrawal of her police escort exposed her to potential risks, especially given her political position and public engagements.

The incident has sparked discussions within political circles about the processes governing the allocation and withdrawal of security details for lawmakers. Analysts say the situation highlights the need for clear communication and transparency between Senate leadership and members on matters relating to security.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Office of the Senate President nor the Nigeria Police Force has issued an official statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal or possible reinstatement of the senator’s police escort.
