The critical stakeholders, Media practitioners in Imo State has demanded the score cards of political actors, potential young leaders, aspirants as well as those interested to contest in the forthcoming general election and the Imo State election in 2027, to disclose their contributions, impacts and commitment in the past for their society or to better Imo State.
Interestingly, this stakeholders and media demands since made, have made so many people to change their ambition and aspirations for lack of proves and evidence . The demands stressed that elective position in Imo State is no longer automatic to people without a clear track records of Sacrifice, Faith, contributions and patience in the individual political journey in Imo State.
According to the mandate of the demands,” The person must point at what he or she has done or brought to Imo State as an individual before we can give our trust, confidence and support for the proposed elective position”.
Recently speaking to newsmen in owerri, Dr. Emma Amaefule thanked the timely demands from Imo critical stakeholders and the media, adding that such demands will separate vision from ambition among the people. Dr Emma Amaefule maintained that his dream to see a great Imo State was born out of vision and passion, which he has continued to demonstrate with sacrifice, commitment, faith and patience for the past two decades. He pointed out that outside leading various organizations and groups as zonal Chairman and Imo state chairman with effective service delivery, visionary leadership, encouraging and motivating people for maximum support to Imo State government and for better Imo State; organizations which includes Okigwe zonal Leader Community Speakers, Okigwe zonal Leader Community Liaison Officers, State chairman Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Youth wing, Director General Prof. Alphonsus Ekwerike Imo governorship campaign 2019 general election, United Imo Christian Network, Imo Young People’s Movement as well as the Speaker Independent Pan African Youth Parliament South East Zone among others. He has shown commitment and capacity through the attraction of U.S African Health support to Imo State. According to Dr. Emma Amaefule he said,” I brought the U.S African Health support team to Imo State in 2013. I told my brother who was the Imo speaker then RT Hon Benjamin Uwajimogu (now late), he lodged me and the four U.S African Health support team in his hotel and arranged for a meeting with governor Rochas Okorocha. Within the 3 days of their stay in Imo State, we meet the governor and he accepted their maga health project with approval and directed Dr Edward Ihejirika commissioner for health in Imo State then, to take us to Owerri North general hospital building at Aba road. We all went there for inspection, the U.S African Health support team accepted the place given to them by the Imo State government. But the project failed as a result of much condition demands by the State actors “.
Again, Dr Emma Amaefule also attracted the African Growth Organization Act (AGOA) to Imo State in 2014. The aim was for Imo State government to identify areas of needs and other government abandoned projects across Imo state for immediate funding and support by the organization. According to Dr Emma Amaefule he said,” I saw the organization as a helping hand for Imo State development, hence l reached out to them with plead and conviction to come to Imo State. To the glory of God, the approval was made and they directed that the executive governor of the state should officially submit the areas of Imo state needs with cost involvement . To get this message fast to the governor, l approached the commissioner for Education who is married to Ihitte/ Uboma LGA – Dr Mrs Uche Ejiogu. She quickly informed the governor Rochas Okorocha and the Imo State government confirmed the source, immediately set up a committee headed by Dr Mrs Uche Ejiogu. I was also part of the team that did the survey across the state. The project involves Education, Industry, Agriculture, Roads, Infrastructure, Market, Housing, Hospital, Transportation, Tourism and Petroleum. Their demand was officially submitted and it went successful in Imo State. I still have detailed copy of the project “.
In another development, Dr Amaefule acknowledged that he was among the team that attracted Chinese investors to Imo State through the Imo -China Investment and Trade Center. According to Dr Emma Amaefule he said, ” We intend to have Imo – China Maga City, with various Chinese investors as players as agreed by China government. The proposed site for the project was Imo Free zone area at Aba road in Ngor okpuala local government areas. But this laudable projects which involved different sectors of economy failed in 2018 as a result of the government decision not to sign the project for Imo State but with personal company “.
Again, as the community speaker of his community, the leader of community speakers in Ihitte/Uboma LGA and the leader Okigwe Zone community speakers in 2013 – 2018, Dr Emma Amaefule ended the distribution of electricity bills to house to house in his community and removed #18.9 million community debt. With an agreement with the EEDC for the community to pay agreed amount monthly per each of the three transformers in the community. This led to each house hold in the community to pay #1000 only for electricity bills monthly. A move which the stakeholders and the traditional ruler in the community then believed to be impossible but was shocked when it was achieved by him and managed successfully for 8 years with his team before he handed over to the new community leaders.
Further more, the Imo State chairman for Imo Young People’s Movement Dr Emma Amaefule highlighted his commitment in support to ensure the protection of lives and property in Imo State. In 2014 – 2015, he was the Imo State Co ordinator for African initiative Against Terrorism and Social Vices (ATSV); with 27 LGA Co ordinators across the state and in effective partnership with Imo DSS as well as approved DSS desk officer for our organization . Again, in 2022 – 2025 Dr Emma Amaefule stepped in to help fight insecurity in the state by mobilizing the South East Zonal leadership of the Nigeria Hunters Security Service now known as Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) to meet with different Security Agencies and the government in Imo State, for proper introduction, Synergy, integration, Co operation and effective partnership with the security outfit in Imo State. According to Dr Emma Amaefule he said, ” l initiated the move and the South East Zonal Commander for the Nigeria Hunters Security Service, which is now known as Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) – ACG – Ihenwosu CC approved it. I took them for an official visit with other officers from Imo State to Imo State Police command, Nigeria Army Command obinze, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Imo Command, Eze Imo Palace, Office of the Special Adviser to the governor on security matters (Eze Obiefule) and to the entire 27 LGA chairmen under the leadership of Barr. Willy Okoliogwu as Algon chairman Imo State. This move has continued to yield good results and help to resolve the challenge of insecurity “.
Interestingly, Dr Emma Amaefule has shown sacrifice and capacity in consulting with different contractors and construction companies in Abuja, Lagos, Uyo, Abia, Imo, Calabar and Porthcourt to partner with NDDC for road constructions, solar light jobs for Imo State. A personal step that has made a great noise and positive impacts in Imo State, with these contractors coming and taking jobs in Imo State. ” I may not have made any money from these contractors but my joy is that they are working for Imo State development” – Dr Emma Amaefule said.
Indeed, Dr Emma Amaefule maintained that he have shown commitment and capacity in the restoration of peace to communities and peaceful co existence among Imo people, through his office as the CEO of Evidence Consult, expert on Business management, Peace & Conflicts Resolutions and Human Resources Management consultancy. It is also on record that as the director general for Prof Alphonsus Ekwerike Imo governorship campaign 2019 under Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP), there was good investors delighted to invest in Imo as well as some countries that indicated interest to have their embassy in Imo State, such as kigali, Sudan among others. This he hope to activate and maintain partnership and inclusivity with the Imo Europe Diaspora Community as he assured them in 2019 when he stepped out to receive award for Prof Alphonsus Njoku Ekwerike during their Imo Diaspora Award at Imo Concord Hotel, owerri.
” In 2019, I discovered many Business opportunities in the Asian countries that could benefits the State and attracts good businesses and investors to Imo State, hence l come up with a vision to have Imo – Asian Investment and Trade Agency. I consulted with the Imo Investment Trade Center, ISAMATA and the Imo Chamber of Commerce. Then myself and Dr. J.PK Anyanwu ( the chairman Imo- China Business Council), spent quality times, spent night together to develop a beautiful template for Imo – Asian Investment and Trade Agency. This need to be implemented for better businesses, investors and Jobs opportunities for Imo people ” – Dr. Emma Amaefule said.
It was gathered that these impactful contributions by the Imo State chairman for Imo Young People’s Movement Dr Emma Amaefule has cost him much sacrifice, faith in Imo project, patience, commitment as well as millions of naira, without any support from government or individuals but he remain focused and humble. Indeed, his advocacy for great Imo and the young leaders in governance have been confirmed not to be a joke but a road map to a new thing in Imo State. No doubt, when others are busy playing politics and looking for what to gain from Imo government, Dr Emma Amaefule is deliberately focused identifying problems and providing solutions without noise in Imo State.
