Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has faulted the Federal Government’s counter-terrorism efforts, describing them as inadequate in tackling the country’s worsening security situation.

Atiku raised concerns over continued attacks by terrorists, bandits, and other armed groups across several parts of the country, noting that many Nigerians remain exposed to constant threats despite ongoing military operations.

He argued that the current security approach has not delivered meaningful results, as violent incidents continue to affect communities nationwide. According to him, a more coordinated and effective strategy is urgently needed to address the crisis.

The former vice president further stated that insecurity has become deeply entrenched, warning that without urgent reforms, the situation could further deteriorate and undermine national stability. He stressed that reactive responses alone are not sufficient to confront the scale of the challenge.

Atiku also emphasized the importance of strengthening intelligence gathering and improving collaboration among security agencies, saying that gaps in coordination have weakened the overall effectiveness of counter-terrorism operations.

He called for increased investment in modern security technology, improved training for personnel, and better welfare for security operatives to enhance morale and operational efficiency.

The opposition leader urged the government to adopt proactive measures aimed at preventing attacks rather than responding after lives have already been lost, describing prevention as the most effective form of security strategy.

He maintained that citizens deserve a safer environment where they can go about their daily activities without fear of violence or abduction.

His remarks add to growing national debate over insecurity, with increasing calls for reforms and more decisive action from the Federal Government to restore public confidence and ensure the protection of lives and property.
