Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved a landmark ₦25 billion project for the construction of modern residential quarters for judges in the state, marking another major investment in infrastructure and institutional development.
The approval of the project underscores the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of judicial officers and providing facilities that reflect the importance of their role in maintaining justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
The proposed judges’ quarters project is expected to deliver 40 modern duplexes equipped with supporting facilities designed to provide a comfortable and secure residential environment for members of the judiciary.
Government officials said the initiative is part of a wider vision to upgrade public infrastructure and strengthen critical institutions across Imo State. By providing improved accommodation for judges, the project is expected to contribute to a more efficient and effective justice system.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Imo State Executive Council, where key development projects aimed at improving various sectors of the state were considered and approved.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed that the judges’ quarters project was among the major approvals made by the council.
The governor’s administration described the investment as a demonstration of its determination to create an environment where public officers can perform their duties effectively while ensuring that government institutions receive the necessary support to function optimally.
The project is also expected to boost construction activities, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the local economy during its implementation phase.
In addition to the judges’ quarters, the State Executive Council approved other development initiatives, including the establishment of four computer-based test centres in the Orlu zone, valued at about ₦1.9 billion.
Observers say the investment in judicial infrastructure highlights the growing recognition of the need to provide modern facilities for institutions that play vital roles in society.
With the approval now secured, attention will shift to the commencement and timely completion of the project, which is expected to become one of the notable infrastructure achievements of the Uzodimma administration.
